I will be making candles on Friday this week, which means I will posting all the things either Friday or Sunday ( I have to work on Saturday and I also have to go to a holiday-ish party on Sunday and the rest of the week is going to be a giant swarm of family members I haven't seen in ages, so I am not positive when I will have time to do things). I promise it will happen though! You have my word. I have to do it anyway because I haven't gotten some people christmas presents, so I was just going to give them some of the finished products. The rest I will probably sell on Etsy (btw I named my shop and I will be officially opening it soon!)
Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky's 148th birthday has been celebrated in a google doodle today! The painter is known for being the first to produce purely abstract work. He would think of painting as a form of composing something like music. He was an important part of history for abstract painters everywhere.
Brett Amory"Brett began working on the painting series entitled “Waiting” in 2001. The series depicts the urban individual’s yearning for presence and the seeming impossibility of attaining it. The paintings portray commuters in transit immersed in either a quiet, even hopeful state or, alternately, an anguish of unfulfilled anticipation."
-Wendy Campbell Okay so I have been pretty busy between school and work and other things, so I did not have the time to make the top 5 artists of last month. I will however give you two for this week! I apologize! John Holcroft"Sheffield-based illustrator John Holcroft uses his artistry to speak up about the state of the world we’re living in. Using vintage-style techniques, this popular artist takes on social media, big tobacco companies, utility services, and even pop culture icons to show us that we’ve grown accustomed to companies shoving things down our throats, like the need to be liked, the need to look a certain way, and the need to conform. His illustrations also go to show how little we can sometimes value ourselves, others, and the planet we live on."
